Wirral Show 2009
Join the Fun at the Wirral Show
Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th July 2009
One of the biggest and best FREE TO ENTER family shows in the UK, the Wirral Show™ Weekend 2009 is the 33rd presentation and promises a full programme of family events, shows and attractions.
The Gentle Giant of the skies made a majestic and spectacular appearance over the Wirral on Saturday 12th July 2008. The Airbus A380, the world’s largest commercial aircraft, was a star attraction at the 2008 Wirral Show.
Staff from the Airbus UK facility at Broughton Flintshire where the wings for the aircraft are manufactured and assembled, joined the huge crowds at the sea-front showground at New Brighton to see the mighty A380.
Wirral Show Chairman Michael Emberton confirmed the huge attendance at the 2008 Show to see the spectacular display by the world’s most advanced and efficient airliner. "It was an awesome sight and an unforgettable experience for all", he commented.
British A380 project pilots Peter Chandler and Frank Chapman were at the controls of the A380, dubbed The Gentle Giant for being the quietest, most efficient airliner and the first to be successfully flown on eco-efficient fuel processed from liquid gas. Peter said ‘She is majestic and quiet in flight and has magnificent handling qualities: a joy to fly’.
The aircraft flew up the Mersey before sweeping low over the Wirral showground. Wirral Show-goers had a marvellous demonstration of the handling capabilities of this amazing feat of engineering.

North Wales Woodfest 2009

Woodfest Wales is a celebration of all things wood. The festival, showcases a variety of wood related activities, crafts and forest industries.
Timber professionals come together to compete in a range of competitions.
Timber businesses, organisations and associations use the event to showcase their own areas of speciality and interest giving advice on all timber related matters: Forestry Commission, Welsh Timber Forum, Coed Cymru, Arborists, Foresters, Timber Haulage Companies, Timber Suppliers, Timber Handling and Saw Milling etc.
Traditional and modern woodworkers sell their products and display a range of wood skills to the public: Timber Frame Construction, Willow Weaving, Stick Making, Wood Turning, Pole Lathes, Clog making, Coracle making, Carving, Chair Making, Furniture Making, Toy Making, Log Cabin Construction, Bushcraft Skills, Wooden doors, windows and staircases, Musical Instruments, Hardwood & Softwood Flooring etc.
A range of family events and attractions also take place over the three days: Welsh Food Hall, Art Zone, Fairground rides and Children's Activities, Making Music with wood, Quizes and Competitions, Birds of Prey Displays etc.
